Vibe: 90%

1 Short Macchiato - 1 Visit

Summary:

84.2%

This is located just north of downtown in a amazing development call TAXI. While it is not far, the address is hard to find. HINT: They are located in the rear of this office/residential development. The buildings are Avant Garde. They share a space with Refuel, an intimate sandwich/food place.

While the main store for Boxcar is in Boulder, this is certainly a must visit in Denver. One of their baristas is the current Denver latte art winner. They also have the right heat sustaining equipment for consistent heat for high altitude coffee brewing. For their espresso based drinks, they use a beautiful Kees Van Der Westen Mirage with wood endcaps. The space is innovative, the chairs unique, and the tables on rails so they can be split up or pulled together in 1, 2’s or 3’s or more.

The beans are their own and their coffee profile unique and pleasant. The extraction is balanced, and in my case, not too bright, nor fruity. Smooth, but not too mellow.

Many coffee houses in Denver uses their beans. But one has to go to this location to get the whole experience if you cannot make it to Boulder. A must go in Denver.
