This is the latest offering from Derek and Kieve and the 3’rd Cupping Room location in Hong Kong. Their original store in Stanley is not theirs anymore. Their additional stores are in nearby Sheung Wan and Wan Chai. This new store is located at the escalator and Wellington and is very convenient. For coffee the 2 key baristas are Derek and Dawn who so happen to come in 2’nd and 4th in separate world Barista Championships. In addition, here at this location is an oven where Kieve herself mans her secret recipes. You have to try her twice baked almond croissants and her daily specialty Cruffins (blend between a croissant and a muffin) hollowed out and filled with various yummy fillings. Best way to tell is to follow their instagram where they show the latest Cruffin. It’s a great location and thus its going to be busy and hard to find a table. Plus the Cruffins and Almond Croissants run out all the time. Just order a cup of coffee and then soon enough a new batch will be done. They are known for their coffee and they do not skimp on beans for they are imported in via air from Sweetbloom Coffee. They are one of my most favorite roasters in the US. So this new Cupping Room has a formidable arsenal of offerings. If one wants savory, they offer poach eggs or soft scrambled over a nice thick cut brioche and have their own house-cured salmon. Together with a very neat group of staff, they are hard to beat because you just want to go back.
